The Rotary Club of Lake Butler is an example that size doesn't matter. This energized 19 member club fills its year with community projects several of which are traditional for this club.
For example, the club makes it a point that new Union County school teachers are welcomed each August as the new school year begins. Members Trent Wheeler and Donna Harris presented Welcome Certificates to ten new Union County elementary school teachers, 13 middle school teachers and ten high school teachers. Bryan Boyer was also presented a certificate as the new assistant principal for the UCHS. Stacey Rimes introduced Pergina Maxwell-McKinney Vento who is locating and assisting students who are homeless or need help because their family support system is unable to adequately provide assistance.
The Lake Butler Rotary Club was chartered in 1965 and is best known for organizing the annual Union County Fourth of July Activities; having the annual New Teacher Appreciation Welcome Luncheon; providing new dictionaries to all the 3rd Graders; annually providing the March Hawaiian Luau, and now are proud sponsors the Lake Butler Interact Club composed of middle and high school students working projects like the monthly Farm Share, the Wreaths Across America, student tutoring, assisting the Lake Butler Rotary Club in its activities, and gathering the names of those Union County residents who are or have served our military forces to honor them at Memorial and Veterans Day Ceremonies.
