Family Comfort Bags for Ronald McDonald House
People of Action from the Greater Gainesville Rotary Club came together at the beautiful new Ronald McDonald House for a special service project. Bringing boxes and boxes of donated goods from both Rotarians and community businesses, plus specially printed reusable shopping bags, this band of merry Rotarians set up in the conference room and assembled 150 “Family Comfort Bags”.
These bags contain the following: Adult and children’s toothbrushes, toothpaste, mini bottles of water, individually wrapped snack foods such as granola bars, cookies and crackers, microwaveable Ramen and popcorn, hand sanitizer, crayons, coloring books, toys, bookmarks, drinking cups, small notepads, and pens.
We had a great time on the assembly line, quickly got the job done, and then had some food and fellowship time at Carrabba’s. It was truthful (we kept all peanuts and peanut snacks separate), built goodwill and friendships, was beneficial, fair to all concerned, and IT WAS FUN!
