The 2023 Interact Leadership Summit was attended by 51 student leaders from 13 different middle/high schools along with13 Rotarians and School Sponsors. District 6970 was represented by 7 different Rotary Clubs. The Student District Leadership Team created and facilitated an incredible interactive day for everyone.

Students met by Regions, brainstormed and shared best practices about service projects, planning, leadership, working with your Rotary Club and more. Former Public Image Coordinator for Zone 34 and PDG Marshall Butler shared his Rotary journey beginning with his father’s polio, his Interact experience, and setting big goals, his being running every street in Jacksonville. Marskall’s story of a deeper awareness and empathy for others in Jacksonville was inspiring. Rotary Club of St. Augustine Sunrise member Melissa Ryan spoke about volunteering opportunities with Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Special guests included District 6970 Youth Director, Claudia Dencer and DGE Mickey Ulmer. The day concluded with learning about the Patric Young Foundation and writing notes of encouragement.
