Shifting gears to another huge priority: World Polio Day is October 24.

Polio cases spiked to 62 in Pakistan this year, compared to 5 last year, as a result of unrest in some areas. Afghanistan, with 16 cases, is the only other source.

World Polio Day helps us focus our communities so we finish this battle. Here are some great ideas:

• The Orange Park Clubs and Clay County Commissioners will proclaim October 24 “World Polio Day.”
• Ridgeview Interact will have a Polio Day display in the school cafeteria.
• Town Center and Beaches Rotaract have a “Happy Hour to End Polio”. That’s fun: have a drink, play games, and help end polio!
