Rotary District 6970 is seeking a dedicated and organized individual to support our District leadership and member clubs.   The Executive Secretary plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of the District operations. 

This is a part-time, remote position that averages about 26 hours per week.  Hours can vary depending on District events and other scheduling priorities.  In person attendance is required at District sponsored events.  This position requires a surety bond and is not eligible for benefits.

Key Skills and Qualifications.  The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of accounting principles and attention to detail.  Candidates must be self-starters and have the ability to initiate and complete projects with minimal supervision.  Other key skills include:

  • The ability to work independently and demonstrate efficient time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and adaptability to work with a variety of management styles
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping, basic accounting and tax filing requirements
  • Understanding of balance sheets and profit and loss statements
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing workload and timeline requirements
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Education and Experience.  The candidate must possess a high school diploma or the equivalent experience plus five (5) years of accounting, bookkeeping and administrative support experience. Additional education is a plus.  Proficiency with office technology software such as Microsoft Office, QuickBooks and/or similar products is necessary.

Representative Job Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Perform administrative and club support duties for the District and District Governor such as answering electronic and postal-delivered mail, phone calls, prepare meeting agendas and minutes. Communicate routinely to clubs and Rotary International.
  • Perform routine accounting duties including bank deposits, payment of invoices, billing, and data input. Distribute invoices to clubs and track receivables. 
  • Produce District and Foundation Financial Statements/Reports as required for Board.
