Minutarian Week 21: November 21, 2022

On behalf of the leadership of District 6970, we want to wish you and your family the happiest of Thanksgivings. If you are traveling, please be safe and enjoy the time together.

On Friday, Maureen and I drove to Tampa to meet Past District Governor Andy Lyman from District 6960 and have him handoff the District 6970 Disaster Trailer. Even though Hurricane Ian is still being cleaned up and the recovery will take years, we now have work on Hurricane Nicole in our district to complete. It was a true joy to drive this Rotary Billboard through central Florida and when we arrived in Deland, we were warmly greeted by two Rotarians from Belgium. We then returned the trailer to Past District Governor Rich and Marie Turnbull in St. Augustine. A very rewarding Rotary trip!

At the Rotary Club of DeBary-Deltona-Orange City with President Joe Hearn and Assistant Governor Steve Crump we inducted new members Carol Lawrence (returning Past President) and Mary Mula.

At the Rotary Club of DeBary-Deltona-Orange City they were proud to show the thank you notes from students who got dictionaries in their third grade dictionary delivery.

At the Rotary Club of Lake Butler, the Club collaborates with the Lake Butler Interact Club in a joint effort to honor over 250 heroes in their community with an individual flag tribute.

As we installed the Stetson Rotaract Club, it was great to see their support from the Rotaract Club of Deland and the Deland Breakfast Rotary Club.

This was a great week for the Jaguars as we did not lose! It is important to recognize that evidence shows the Jaguars do better when Rotarians are there to cheer them on. We have two games remaining, November 27 and January 8. We need your support! Tickets are still available for the January 8 game. Buy your tickets today. Don’t forget, you can donate to a student or veteran.

The first ever D6970 Membership Summit is scheduled for Saturday Morning January 28, 2023 at Daytona State College-Palm Coast. Signup details will be available on November 28.

We are planning RYLA in three Acts with Act I coming March 25. Signup details are coming.

As we celebrate Rotary Foundation Month, we are congratulating all of the Rotary clubs that had every member generously give at least $100 to our Annual Fund. Just 7% of Rotary clubs earned this achievement! We are sending a special thank you to both past and current club presidents who lead their clubs to earn this achievement.

We need your help, as a Rotary leader, to raise funds and awareness for The Rotary Foundation this Giving Tuesday, November 29. This Global Day of Generosity is an opportunity for all Rotary members to make a big impact with a gift of any size to our Annual Fund-SHARE. Last year, we raised more than ever before — over US$1 million! We’re asking you to help us surpass that this year, so that we can do even more good together.

Pictures of the Week
Great visit to the Rotary Club of Lake Butler. Club president Garrett Milton towers over me as this club soars high in their community. It was great to have their Lake Butler HS Interactors at the meeting.

A fun meeting with the Rotary Club of Southpoint with President Theresa Wilson and Assistant Governors Gary Williams and Robert Perry.

Great meeting at the Rotary Club of DeBary-Deltona-Orange City with President Joe Hearn, Assistant Governor Steve Crump and Past District Governor Don Kafer.

It is always fun and frolic at the Edgewater Rotary Club. It was especially fun to celebrate Thanksgiving with them, but more importantly, to bring President Lindsay Malia and Past President Steve Holmes their 100% Paul Harris Club Banner as well as Banners for 100% giving of at least $100 and Every Rotarian Every Year. This club rocks their community.

What a fun night to install Stetson Rotaract President Karen Dubuisson and her board. Nice job Assistant Governor Steve Crump. Patrick Coggins is a great advisor.
