Ahoy me maties!

Welcome to District 6970’s District Training Assembly and Conference at the Hyatt in Downtown Jacksonville.

Friday’s Training Assembly begins with several great training opportunities and will be followed by a fun Conference Kick-Off Party, before we set sail for a day of inspiration and fun on Saturday as we explore all that Rotary has to offer.

All of this will be capped off with a Pirate Bash on Saturday evening (costumes encouraged) with lots of festivities and live music. So plot ye course and sign up today.

Peg legs, parrots, and chests of gold await all ye who dare. www.dacdb.com/Calendar/Event.cfm?EventID=77570853&CalClubID=0&R=0.337792722223093

Our Hearts and Our Donations are Headed to Ukraine.

I’m happy to report that the generous support from the Rotarians in our district is already headed to Ukraine, where it is very much needed.

Both funds from our York Foundation and through The Rotary Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund have been deployed to where they are needed most. Funds that have already been collected through our York Foundation have been wired to the Rotary Club of Warsaw, where they are working with Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Lviv to restock hospitals throughout the Ukraine with much needed supplies. The funds going to the The Rotary Foundations Disaster Relief fund will be used for $25K and $50K grants to the clubs and districts in and around the Ukraine.

To give through The Rotary Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund:

Sign into your account at www.rotary.org or go to this link: Disaster Response Fund | My Rotary. If clubs wish to make a donation on behalf of multiple donors, they may use the multiple donor form. www.rotaryfoundation6970.org/foundation-forms/forms-ri-forms

Give through the York Foundation – Our York Foundation is a 501(c)3 and donations will be collected there and dispersed to Ukraine for a cause that our District leadership and Disaster Relief committee choose. Funds will be dispersed now and again later as more funds come in.

This fund is intended for clubs and individuals, Rotarians or not.

To give: Pay by check or PayPal payable to The York Foundation, Inc.
Send to Rotary District 6970 York Foundation, Inc.  P.O. Box 47195, Jacksonville Fl 32247
Note that payee instructions state: District 6970 Ukraine March 2022 Humanitarian Aid Fund and name of donor and Rotary-Rotaract Club.

Please indicate to whom and address that the receipt is to be sent with the name of the Family of Rotary organization along with email and phone contact information.

We have also set up a PayPal portal on our district website, rotarydistrict6970.org where donations can be made directly from individuals or clubs.

Honor a Special Rotarian, Last Chance This Year

We have many very special Rotarians throughout our District. Please consider nominating somebody for one of these two very special awards.

Brent Williams “Spirit of Rotary” Award –  https://rotarydistrict6970.org/d-brent-williams-spirit-of-rotary-award/

Al Watson “Quiet Hero” Memorial Award –  https://rotarydistrict6970.org/al-watson-quiet-hero-award/

Important to note, any Rotarian can make a nomination for one of these awards, but by procedure, only a sitting club president may enter the nomination electronically. That president does not have to be in yours nor the nominees club.

Upcoming Events in our District
