Rotary Club of NSB Supports Cameroon Water Project

In January, our club applied for and was awarded a District 6970 Grant for $7,000 to support the “Farmer Tantoh Foundation’s” project to provide clean water to a community of 2,500 people in Bamenda, Northwest Cameroon. The need was brought to the attention of the club by Rotarian Anne Mlod, who is President of the Farmer Tantoh Foundation.

In less than three months, a tower was completed, water pumps and tanks installed, piping put in place, and a stand tap created. On April 5th, 100 families came to get water and celebrate the project. It will serve over 500 families each week, as well as the Eco-Village that “Farmer Tantoh,” the environmentalist who administered the project in Cameroon, is creating.

Anne will be presenting a Paul Harris recognition and Honorary Club membership to Tantoh in Doha, Qatar on April 22, where he is one of twelve finalists selected for the Earthna Prize given out by the Qatar Foundation.

The Rotary Club of New Smyrna Beach, FL is proud to be making a difference both in our local community and in the world, and appreciates the support of District 6970 and the grant program.
